Early networking within the scientific community is of overall importance for young researchers. The Graduate Academy offers Ph.D. candidates and postdocs financial support for organising workshops (scientific exchanges) and conferences with a subsidy of up to 4,000 Euro. This funding gives young researchers the possibility to thematically and methodically exchange with other young researchers and to integrate themselves and their topic into the research community. The amount of the awarded grant for organising workshops and conferences depends on the following conditions:
1. Promotion of smaller workshops for scientific networking among themselves (lump sum: 300 Euro)
Each application should be lodged by a grouping made up of at least three Ph.D. candidates of Leibniz University Hannover. Applications are quarterly possible at the end of each quarter. The respective application deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31. The Graduate Academy decides upon funding within about two weeks. It is not possible to apply funds for activities that have already been undertaken. Selection criteria will include the scientific excellence of the applicants as well as a demonstration of the need (thematically, methodically, etc.) for the requested networking activity
2. Promotion of self-organised conferences and meetings (according to the respective expenditures up to 4,000 Euro at the most)
Each application should be lodged by a grouping made up of at least three Ph.D. candidates of Leibniz University Hannover or by a grouping made up of at least two Ph.D. candidates and one young researcher (postdoctoral level) of Leibniz University Hannover. One of the Ph.D. candidates has to have the primary responsibility for overall organisation. Applications for self-organised conferences or meetings are possible at the end of the semester. Application deadlines are March 31 and September 30, respectively. Applications are selected based on a scientific evaluation within about six to eight weeks. It is not possible to apply funds for activities that have already been undertaken. Selection criteria will include the scientific excellence of the applicants, a clear linking of the respective dissertation topics with the conference topic in terms of content and methodology. The focus of the conference should be of relevance for young researchers.
