Exposé-Scholarship
The Graduate Academy supports graduates in their process of planning a doctorate with funding to elaborate a detailed research concept for a Ph.D. project. The aim of this six-month scholarship is to secure further funding for the Ph.D. thesis.

Travel Grant to Participate at Conferences and for Short-Term Research Trips (for up to four weeks) (also for Postdocs)
The Graduate Academy supports Ph.D. candidates and postdocs with travel grants for attending conferences and congresses/symposia/workshops. In addition, shorter research trips up to the duration of four weeks can be supported.

Financial Support for Making Professional Contacts (for Postdocs only)
The Graduate Academy supports postdocs at Leibniz University in their first four years after completing their doctorate in establishing strategic contacts. The starting point of the postdoc is the graduation with the successful defence and confirmation by the faculty council.
Application deadlines: Applications can be submitted to the Graduate Academy's office at any time. However, this is preceded by an initial conversation by phone or in person at the office.
Scholarship for a Research Stay Abroad (for up to six Months)
The Graduate Academy financially supports research stays abroad as part of the Ph.D. project for a period of one to six months. Funding consists of a travel lump sum and a monthly living allowance.

Networking Initiatives (also for Postdocs)
The Graduate Academy offers financial support for Ph.D. candidates and postdocs who want to organise workshops (scientific exchanges) or conferences with a subsidy of up to 4,000 Euro.

Completion Grant in the Event of Particular Hardships
The goal of this funding programme, which is supported by both the Graduate Academy and the Equal Opportunities Office (Hochschulbüro für ChancenVielfalt), is to support young researchers in finishing their Ph.D. project if delay is caused by family reasons or by the event of particular hardships.
Application deadline: Application is possible at any time.
Lindemann-Scholarship
Every two years, the Dr. Heinz Lindemann Stiftung offers, in close cooperation with the Graduate Academy, the so-called Lindemann-Scholarship to a Ph.D. candidate of Leibniz University Hannover, who is performing his/her Ph.D. in technical or natural science related field.
Applications have to be submitted by July 15, 2025.
