At the end of your doctoral phase at the latest - in the best case, even earlier - you will ask yourself what you want to do after your doctorate. In view of the fact that only one in five to one in six remain in the science system in the long term, questions about career orientation with reference to the non-academic sector are obvious, e. g.

  • What can I actually do outside of science?
  • Where are the opportunities for me in the non-academic job market?
  • How useful is a doctorate if the goal is to work in business or the public sector?
  • What exactly are my strengths, interests and abilities?

In one or more advisory settings, we can support you in developing a self-image on the basis of which you can become active yourself and, among other things, identify suitable career fields for yourself. In this process, we always start from your individual situation.

We can support you in your further career planning in the following topics:

Location determination

  • How does my current "career" situation actually look like?
  • Which factors influence my decisions and next steps?

Profile development

  • What makes me stand out?
  • What are my competencies and expertise?
  • What values are important to me in (professional) life and what motivates me?

Fields of activity and job search strategies

  • Which areas and professional fields of activity am I interested in and how can I identify them?
  • Which strategies do I have to use to find a job that is suitable for me?
Consultation appointment

To arrange a consultation appointment, please contact us preferably via e-mail. From experience, a walk & talk is a very good way to have a first conversation. According to your individual concerns, we can clarify initial questions and discuss how you would like to proceed and whether or how we can support you.

For a personal consultation you can arrange an appointment with our contact person. We are looking forward to it!
